QB Troubles

It isn’t a surprise that the Jets have quarterback problems. Mark Sanchez has been the laughing stock of the NFL the last few years. But Saturday night didn’t help their problem. In their preseason game against the New York Giants  at MetLife Stadium Geno Smith was named the starter. After throwing three interceptions, Geno Smith was basically handing  the starting job over to Mark Sanchez. Unfortunately for Sanchez it all depends if he is healthy enough.

After replacing Smith in the fourth quarter, Sanchez took a shot from Marvin Austin hurting his right shoulder and left the game immediately.  Trainers threw ice on it and take him back to the locker room for an X-ray. According  to sources, Sanchez will have a MRI exam to find the severity of the injury. He finished the game 5 for 6 with 72 yards.

So what does this mean for the Jets? The quarterback they they have invested greatly will most likely not be able to play on opening day. Rookie quarterback Geno Smith will take over the offense and try to prove he should be the starter all season.  Saturday night he threw three picks. He hasn’t looked great, but I think it is an improvement from Mark Sanchez and they can start to turn the team around and head in a different direction.

This is Geno’s opportunity to become a starting quarterback and possibly turn a dying franchisearound.
