AFC South Preview

The AFC South has been a rather disappointing division in the last few seasons. They have all the talent for a Super Bowl winning team but they just can’t make it.

Indianapolis Colts (predicted 12-4)
The Colts have become a team that can once again look for a Super Bowl. With the addition of Darrius Heyward-Bey, Andrew Luck will have three targets to throw deep to in Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton, and now Hayward-Bey. Ahmad Bradshaw is looking to bring some involvement in the offense from the backfield. Andrew Luck is going into his sophomore year but it doesn’t look like he will go into a sophomore slump. He did have the lowest passer rating and worst completion percentages out of the rookies last year but that is because most of his passes were thrown deep down field. I think this offensive oriented team will definitely make a splash in the playoff pool.

Houston Texans (predicted 9-7)
The Texans have a pretty tricky schedule playing the Colts twice along with the Seahawks, 49ers, Patriots, Ravens, and Broncos. It’s hard to believe they will win all of those games. Their wide receiver combo with the newly drafted DeAndre Hopkins and their star Andre Johnson will be hard to stop with Matt Schaub behinds center. But Schaub might be turning to hand the ball Arian Foster more then throwing it down field. On defense they have J.J.Watt who almost broke the single season sack record last year, linebacker Brian Cushing and newly acquired safety Ed Reed. They certainly have the tools to win the division I have some doubt on how much they will improve from last year. But don’t be surprised if the sneak into the postseason as a 6 seed.

Tennessee Titans(predicted 6-10)
The Titans seem to always be stuck here in this position. Their offenses starting take shape after a few years of building with the with the addition of TE Delanie Walker, rookie WR Justin Hunter and RB Shonn Green. That alone could put them in a good position and possibly a playoff birth if they had a decent defense but that is just the problem. They don’t have many players to take note of on defense. They did add DT Sammie Lee Hill and S Bernard Pollard but in no way will they bring the defense above par.

Jacksonville Jaguars (15-1)
The Jags have to be the worst team in the NFL. Maurice Jones-Drew is a great back and there is no doubt about that, but he has no help on either side of the ball. I guess you could talk about first round pick Jake Loeckel but he has injury questions. There isn’t any way to save this team at this point.
